Physical wellness is the act of developing a lifestyle revolving around physical activities and healthy eating habits that aid the body in achieving and maintaining a high level of physical condition.  Key elements in achieving physical wellness include improving muscular strength, cardio-vascular strength, endurance and flexibility.

Keys to Achieving Physical Wellness

Participate in some form of physical activity 3 to 5 times weekly that promotes both physical and cardio vascular exercise.  There is no requirement that these activities be the same each time, varying these activities allow for different part of the body to be exercised as well as not having exercising to become monotonous.  Sports such as basketball, tennis or simply running are excellent forms of cardio vascular exercises.  Cardio vascular exercise can also be achieved at a fitness club or at home with aerobic programs, treadmills, ellipticals and various other types of fitness equipment or programs.  Notice --- If you have not been involved in physical activity consult your physician before starting any fitness program or activity.

Maintaining your general health is also a requirement to achieve physical wellness.  Avoiding tobacco products, illegal drugs and excessive alcohol consumption.  Visit your family physician for regular checkups and listen to what your body is saying.
